About Are you passionate about Early Literary Development and raising literacy levels in your community by instilling in children a life-long love of reading? Are you looking to make a difference in children’s lives? Are you hoping to learn how to animate story-time for children? Read on! minibiblioPLUS is an outreach project consisting of two programs: minibiblio (mini-libraries) and the Early Literacy Component provided free to partners. Our mission is to raise literacy levels by empowering partners to instill in children a life-long love of reading and learning from birth and to enable free access to books and animation services. We currently provide outreach to 100 sites using 163 programs. minibiblio includes books selected from our collection; a training session on tracking; replenishment of materials with our expert’s assistance and mutual partner promotion. Early Literacy Component includes weekly reading activity by our volunteers both online and in- person, early Literacy workshop and early literacy tool kit.   Some things that you will be learning: -          Concepts of Early literacy Development and how it relates to the overall development of a child -          Verbal/non-verbal/ visual communication -          Presentation skills -          Story-time animation skills -          Library processing and book-shelving skills  Volunteer Opportunities As a volunteer with the minibiblioPLUS project, you will receive an exhaustive training for each of the categories listed below with a certificate of completion at the end. All materials for animation of story-time will be provided at the library. The volunteer coordinator will be in constant contact with the volunteers to support them in their work. We also provide Volunteer Workshops throughout the year to help expand on your skills and create a place to share your experiences. ·                     Story time animator in-person o   In person activity where the volunteer is placed with a partner and goes in once a week to animate story-time for children in the presence of the educator. Books to be picked up by the volunteer at the library. ·                     Story time animator online o   Online activity where the volunteer films themselves reading children’s books and shares the videos with us for private distribution to our partners. No distribution of these videos on any other platforms will be allowed. Books to be picked up by the volunteer at the library.
