Volunteer Position Title: Conductive Education Volunteer Assistant (CEVA)

Purpose: Conductive Education Volunteers Assistants (CEVAs)make a direct impact on the lives of our clients by helping them work towards their goals of independence. The CEVA helps CEAs and conductors facilitate conductive education services for children and adults with neurological motor disabilities.

Location: 1646 Henderson Hwy, Winnipeg, MB  R2G 1N7

Key Responsibilities:

·         Assist facilitation of the delivery of conductive education (CE) by working hands on with children and adults with physical and/or intellectual disabilities, and in accordance with conductors’ directions

·         Classroom set-up, tear-down, and cleaning as needed

·         Protect clients’ rights by maintaining confidentiality

Time and Duration Commitment: We ask that our volunteers commit to a regular schedule of at least one class (approximately 3 hours per week), for at least one program session. Sessions are typically broken down into 3 or 4 month periods.

Qualifications

·         A desire to make a difference in the lives of children and adults with disabilities

·         A positive, energetic, and motivated mindset

·         A willingness to learn

·         Ability to work in a physically demanding environment

·         Security checks: criminal record check (including vulnerable sector search), adult and child abuse registry checks (see below)

Support and Training

·         Training is provided on-site through online modules, job shadowing, manuals, and hands-on training

·         Volunteer Certificates are provided

·         Movement Centre staff can assist volunteers in obtaining security checks at no cost
