Guest speaker biographies:
- Ryan Godfrey is a botanist with over a decade of experience studying native plants and ecology. He has a BSc from the University of British Columbia and an MSc from the University of Toronto, has worked at the Royal Ontario Museum, the Royal Botanical Gardens, as an environmental consultant and now works for the World Wildlife Fund. In all of his work, he has focused on the diversity and functions of plants in an ecological context and he is fascinated by the role that human-plant relationships play in shaping ecosystems.
- Elisabeth Shapiro is a Wildlife Biologist with over ten years of experience working in the environmental sector. She has spent the past five years with the Canadian Wildlife Service where her work focuses on the recovery of endangered species including butterflies. She holds a Master's in Environmental Science from the University of Toronto and a BSc. in Environmental Science from the University of Guelph. She is a proud member of the Ontario Butterfly Species at Risk Recovery Team and sits on the leadership team of the Feminist Bird Club. In her spare time, she volunteers with a youth stewardship group and can be found looking for birds and bugs in Toronto parks. She is passionate about connecting people to nature and building community.
