Bowl down barriers for local youth!

At this time of year, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ottawa (BBBSO) usually organizes an annual event called 'Bowl for Kids' Sake, but due to the pandemic they've organized a virtual fundraiser instead.

The Ottawa Professional Fire Fighters Association (OPFFA) is a long time BBBSO supporter and has created a fundraising team to help out this worthy cause. The OPFFA team's efforts have been kick-started with a $750 donation from the Benevolent Fund and – between now and March 31 – crews are encouraged to fundraise by collecting an extra dollar/person per meal (on duty) and to donate that money via the OPFFA team page. For work groups outside Suppression an alternative would be to collect $0.50 per coffee/tea consumed on shift.

For the general public, the theme of this year's 'Bowl for Kids' Sake event is that it's a 'Home Edition'. If interested, you can also join the OPFFA team as a household, organize a fun bowling event at home, and fundraise through your own network. When registering as an individual or household, you can join the OPFFA team to help boost our total. Registration instructions and details of the ''public'' BBBSO fundraiser are here https://www.bbbso.ca/donate/bowl/.
