Producing a festival like Sled Island in Calgary is a costly endeavour. International artists rarely tour through Calgary and most need to be flown over, and paying artist fees in US dollars means adding 30% to our artistic expenses.

Revenues from ticket and pass sales to the festival far from cover what it actually costs to produce it, and while we do receive public funding, those two revenue streams combined only make up 70% of our annual budget. So while it is difficult to say which specific expense your donation is going to, you can be assured that it will be directly invested in the production of our annual festival and other year-round events, be it in the form of artist fees, equipment and venue rentals, technician salaries, volunteer t-shirts, etc.
