The project to restore of the Cathedral's spire began in 2015. The entire covering of aluminum tiles has been removed and the corroded underlying steel structure is being repaired.
The heritage aluminum tiles are also being restored and will be placed back on the steel structure in 2022.
The cost of this multi-million dollar restoration has doubled since the initial estimates in 2015. So we continue to fund-raise.
The Cathedral building is a classified heritage building, designated as such by both the Quebec and Canadian governments. We are grateful for the past support of Parks Canada and the ongoing support of the Québec Religious Heritage Council.
We are also grateful for your support.
